Hello everyone:
I will talk about my favourite artist. Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, his most popular name as Dominique Ingres. He is a Frenchman very popular and important for his drawings. He is important for to install the neoclassicism, although his life to lived in other time because he was born on august 29 1780 and the classicism emerged in the Greek and Roman period on the year 146 a. C, it’s to say, much more time later that this artist take this style and implant in his works.
His artworks more important are: “The Bather Valpinçon”, “Napoleon on his Imperial Throne”, “The source”, and many more. I like this artist because his artworks turn back to the Greek and Roman period and open this new art style to called “neoclassicism” in that the drawings is important and the contoured figures is for to luxuriate about the idealist body. My favourite Ingres works are “The Great Odalisque” and “Napoleon on his Imperial Throne” because this works give to the figures achieved magnify and idealism.

It is very nice as this fabric represented in the Napoleon on his imperial throne

Hello Fernanda!
ResponderBorrarI like Ingres too! My favourite work of him is “The Bather Valpinçon” because he was very criticized for the dimentions of the body of her bather. The critics where saying that if she was putting of foot would be extremely low because her legs are very short. But he said something like: "she's just a paint, doesn't need to be standing up".
(Well, of course it wasn't exactly his words but it's the idea).
Take care!! :)
